I quit Sugar – Sweet temptations

Added sugar is really unnecessary as nature provides us with a cornucopia of taste sensations.  If you’ve quit sugar but still crave the occasional temptation try these delicious morsels.

(dairy free, gluten free with no added sugar)

They’re also fibre rich and bursting with antioxidants, as well as magnesium, copper, manganese, potassium and   zinc, vits B2, protein, and fats.

Ingredients

4 dates

2 tablespoons raw cacao

2 tablespoons coconut oil

11/2 tablespoons walnuts

Desicated coconut for coating

Directions:

Blend dates, cacao & coconut oil in a mixing bowl using a stick blender (melt coconut oil first if solid).

Add walnut and pulse quickly but leaving small pieces of nuts visible.

Pour some coconut onto a plate

Divide mixture and form into a 2cm diameter roll and place on coconut

Roll mixture coating on all sides

Place in refrigerator until firmer.

Cut roll into bite size morsels

Serving Suggestion

Serve a few morsels with fresh berries & quark  or yoghurt

Enjoy on their own with your favourite cuppa.

Variations

Try with different types of dried fruit, e.g. apricots or prunes.

If you wish to omit the walnuts use only 1½ tablespoons of coconut oil.
